Buying a car in Counselor

A few local things worth knowing before you go look at a car.

Get it inspected

A pre-purchase inspection at a shop you choose costs far less than one surprise repair. Ask for service records too.

Check the VIN

Run the VIN through a history report and the free NHTSA recall lookup before you go see the car.

Paperwork

Make sure the name on the title matches the seller's ID, and ask for a bill of sale. Check your state's DMV for what else you need.

Yes. Listing is free for private sellers and dealers, with no commissions. You and the buyer agree on payment and pickup yourselves.

Where should I meet a seller in Counselor?

Somewhere public and in daylight. Many banks and credit unions will let you finish the paperwork in the lobby, which also makes a cashier's check easy to verify.
